Hard Rock Cafe Celebrates 40 Years Of Rock

DETROIT (WWJ) - Hard Rock Cafe is celebrating forty years with forty days that rock.  The public is invited to the party that kicks off with Wednesday night's Covenant Idol competition in Downtown Detroit.

Hard Rock Cafe Detroit will host a variety of events taking place over 40 days and "feature memorabilia pieces from all over the world," said Mary Curry, Sales and Marketing Manager for Hard Rock Cafe Detroit.

She talked with WWJ Newsradio 950 about one of their special birthday attractions that will benefit four local charities.

"Our goal is to raise $10,000 for each charity for a total of $40,000 for 40 years," said Curry.  The four charities are the Covenant House, Detroit Dog Rescue, the Greening of Detroit and The Detroit Tigers Foundation.

On May 21st, there will be a scavenger hunt with a grand prize trip to London.  In case you haven't seen it yet, Eric Clapton's guitar will be featured in late May, one of their first memorabilia pieces, said Curry.
