Detroit Parents Arrested In Elementary School Disturbance

DETROIT (WWJ) - Two local parents are facing charges following a fight at a Detroit elementary school.

Speaking with WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeil, school spokeswoman Jennifer Mrzowski described what happened around 10 a.m. Friday at Parker Elementary on the city's west side.

"There was an alleged altercation with two parents who allegedly engaged in an assault with the principal, some teachers, and students over an assault that originally took place with some students, including their child," Mrzowski said.

There were no injuries, but Mrzowski said the parents were arrested and are now facing disorderly conduct charges. She said that, pending an investigation, additional charges could be filed.

Mrzowski said the district is taking the case very seriously.

"Detroit Public Schools would like everyone to know that we will take a hard line against anyone who comes to our school engaging in any sort of disorderly conduct that's completely unacceptable... and we will bring down the full force of the law. The bottom line is we won't tolerate this kind of behavior in our schools," Mrzowski said

The parents' names have not been released.
