Ex-Scout Camp Leader Convicted In Child Porn Case

MUSKEGON (AP) - The former leader of a western Michigan Boy Scout camp has been convicted of attempting to produce child pornography by secretly videotaping boys at a YMCA in Muskegon.

Scott Herrick taught pool safety at the YMCA. He's been in custody since July when investigators found child pornography at the scout camp in Twin Lakes, 40 miles northwest of Grand Rapids.

On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney in Grand Rapids convicted the 39-year-old Herrick of attempting to produce child porn. He has already pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing it.
