NAACP Believes More Involved In Racial Threat, Offers Reward

BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ) - The NAACP is offering a $1,000 reward for more information about the racist graffiti found on a restroom wall at Birmingham's Seaholm High School.

Members of the local NAACP are not convinced the 18-year-old student charged with the crime acted alone.

This week Courtney Thomas was charged with ethnic intimidation in connection with the incident, a felony punishable up to two years in prison. He is accused of writing the graffiti that had parents and police at the school on high alert.

Thomas reportedly confessed to scrawling threats along with racial remarks aimed at five students, including himself.

Bloomfield Hills Attorney H. Wallace Parker, who represents the organization, told the Macomb Daily Thomas is a good kid and has been the victim of bullies.

Parker said there have been unsubstantiated rumors the incident may have resulted from an earlier one.
