Few Openings Left For Summer Day Camps In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) –  Are you wondering how to keep your child active this summer? If so, there are currently openings available for the ever-popular Detroit Recreation Department Summer Day Camp programs.

Summer Day Camps are held Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, beginning June 20 through August 12.

The following camp locations are still open for registration. Both camps cost $300 and are suitable for children ages six through 12.

  • Crowell Recreation Center – 16630 Lahser, 313-628-2047
  • Clemente Recreation Center – 2631 Bagley, 313-224-0228

One location is still available for the Funtastic Sports Clinic. The clinic is composed of four camps, two weeks long each, featuring basketball, tennis, golf and baseball. The cost is $150 per session or $450 for all four. All camps are suitable for children ages nine through 13.

  • Lasky Recreation Center – 13200 Fenelon, 313-628-2030

Registration is open to Detroit residents until June 1. Camp fees must be paid in full at the time of registration with a money order or cashier’s check made payable to Recreation Activity Fund. Personal checks and cash will not be accepted.
