WSU Officer Charged He Coerced Driver For Sex

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The Wayne County Prosecutor has filed charges against a campus police officer accused of stopping a female driver late at night, and coercing her to perform a sex act.

Wayne State University police officer Gregory A. Gladden, 38, was arraigned Thursday in Detroit District Court on counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and misconduct in office. His preliminary examination is scheduled June 7.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy's office said Gladden stopped a 22-year-old woman, who was not a WSU student or university employee, at  about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday. Prosecutors said he then drove the woman in a police vehicle to a nearby building, where he pressured her for sex.

The charges carry penalties of up to 15 years in prison.

There's no listed phone number for Gladden, and it's unknown if he has a lawyer. He was suspended without pay during the investigation.
