Groups Gather In Detroit To Promote Peace

DETROIT (WWJ) - Several Detroit groups gathered to promote peace in the city Saturday. Members of Mothers of Children Lost to Violence, and other groups, marched for a stop to the violence.

Ron Scott is with the Coalition Against Police Brutality. He says it started after the death of 15-year old Robert Mitchell, after he was tased by Warren police.

"His mother, decided, rather than being angry at everybody, she decided what she would do is support our call for peace zones for life," says Scott.

A Detroit policeman was there, saying he came to support all community building efforts. He says it's the key to reducing all crime in the city.
