SOUTHGATE (WWJ/AP) – A former Downriver police officer has been charged in the sexual assault of a 41-year-old woman after responding to a domestic violence call in Southgate.

Prosecutors say 42-year-old Emmanuel Paravas picked up the woman and drove her to a hotel on Northline Road in Southgate, in the early morning hours of February 9. Investigators say the officer then returned at 3 a.m., the same day, and sexually assaulted the woman in her hotel room.

Paravas is charged with criminal sexual conduct, misconduct in office and neglect of duty.

He resigned from the force and is expected to be arraigned on charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct on Wednesday at 11 a.m.. in 28th District Court in Southgate.

    Hmmm – Another law enforcement officer breaking the law? Should there be a law in place that holds them to a higher standard so the pubic can be entrusted with the confidence of the position they hold. Let’s see if he will get a lessor charge because he is a cop like the other perverted police officer who recently charged for raping a littlle girl.
