Sara's Blog: Horse Herpes Forces Girls To Ride Sticks

This news story seemed like a "Saturday Night Live" skit, but it really happened. Apparently there is an outbreak of horse herpes going around the U.S. right now. People can't get it, but it can be deadly for horses. Instead of canceling a children's rodeo event in Utah last week, the organizers decided to have the girls do their events while riding ...hobby horses. A hobby horse is just a stick with a stuffed animal horse head on the top. You can see the girls trotting around the arena on foot at: 36. Next season they plan on competing by riding the penny horse at Meijer.
