DETROIT (WWJ) – The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) announced Friday that its Board of Directors ratified the renewal of President and CEO Anne Parsons’ contract for another three years through 2014.

“Not only is she an industry veteran of 30-plus years with proven expertise in navigating challenging economic climates, she a crusader for the arts with deep connections within the national funding community,” said Chairman of the Board, Stanley Frankel.

“I look forward to continuing my commitment to the DSO and this community as well as the exciting work ahead supported by an outstanding team of leaders who will be crucial to achieving our success,” says Parsons in a released statement.

Parsons agreed to continue the compensation and benefits adjustments made to her contract in early 2009 that remain in effect Friday and through her new contract.

Parsons was at the helm through a long and at time contentious strike between the musicians of the orchestra and management.  Resolution came after some six months of striking and a full orchestral season lost for the community.

Parsons was named President and Executive Director of the DSO in April 2004 and became President and CEO in 2010.
