Students Mourn Classmate Killed At House Party

WALLED LAKE (WWJ) - As students head back to the classroom at Walled Lake Western High School, there's a definite feeling of loss and a somber mood because one of their classmates died violently over the weekend.

WWJ's Ron Dewey reports that school officials say they will do everything they can to help students through the final week of classes, following the stabbing death over the weekend of a classmate. 17-year-old Jonathan Rickman, a junior who had been at a party in W. Bloomfield Saturday, got into an argument with another person -- who police say followed Rickman outside the house and stabbed him. That person remains in police custody.

Sunday night's graduation ceremony at the school was somber as students learned what happened. Grief counselors are expected to be at the school today.
