Let’s start with fun. It has been called the “party of the year” by many Detroiters. Now, I finally got the chance to experience the fundraising gala called, “Bravo Bravo!” The Italian word “bravo” means “well done” and that is exactly how to describe this event.
This was the 12th annual event. This year’s theme was the film industry. All proceeds will go to the Detroit Opera House. The party was at the Opera House, with a stage/floor set up over the seats in the venue! There were dozens of restaurants there with tons of food and drinks.
The night started with walking down the red carpet… which was purple.
Since the theme was the film industry, I decided to get dolled up and be as “Hollywood” as possible.
I wore my favorite dress. It is a Diane Von Furstenberg maxi warp dress with lots of colors. If you look closely, you can find stars on the dress.
I found that to be fitting for the theme. And before you GASP at the label…. I’ll have you know, I am a smart fashionista. The retail price of the dress is worth as much as a fancy trip to Miami. But I got in on such a great sale, it only cost me the same amount as going out to a fancy restaurant. You can do the math!
Many people came up to me and said they thought our show “First Forecast Mornings” is great! I love to hear compliments, who doesn’t? It was so nice to meet viewers and get feedback. Luckily for me, everyone had nothing but good things to say!
My date was our intern (and aspiring news reporter/anchor) Jasmyn Durham. She has such an outgoing personality. I knew she would enjoy this experience.
Here is what she had to say about the “food and fashion” of the event:
Bravo Bravo! was an amazing experience. Just imagine having all the exquisite food and drinks you could imagine, right at your fingertips. That’s exactly what attendees received at Friday’s event. The food selection was composed of a variety of dishes ranging from American to Thai. There was grilled chicken, smoked salmon, macaroni and cheese, ice cream and more. Every dish was made and served to perfection. As far as the drinks, anything you could think of drinking, they had it. Drinks ranged from champagne to whiskey to spritzers and even cake flavored vodka!
Now this wouldn’t be a Detroit event if I didn’t touch on the fashion. Detroiters came dressed to impress in their finest attire. Ladies wore long and short dresses that included sequins, flowers, bright colors and more. Some of the designer fashion’s spotted included Diane Von Furstenberg and Christian Louboutin. Makeup and hair were of course flawless! The men of Detroit weren’t too bad either; in fact I’d say they came to steal the scene. I came across men in linen suits, ascots, and even Gators. If the ladies were looking for attractive, well dressed men; they were definitely in the building.
As you can see, BravoBravo! was an event that brought out the best in Detroit, the best food, the best drinks and of course the best fashion. I’m excited to see what next year’s BravoBravo! experience will bring.
