Wilk And Santos Are Likely Ticketed For Minors

Two roster moves are coming, and neither looks to be a surprise.

Left-hander Phil Coke returns to active roster status in time to start Wednesday in Texas, where the Tigers won the series opener 13-7 Monday. Coke will have spent the minimum 15 days on the disabled list due to a bone bruise in his right foot.

Left-handed reliever Adam Wilk, called up on an emergency basis during the weekend, is likely to be optioned back to Class AAA Toledo.

The other decision involves which position player to send down when right fielder Magglio Ordonez decides he's ready to rejoin the Tigers off his rehab assignment.

Detroit is likely to return catcher Omir Santos, whom it has yet to use, to Toledo.

The Tigers could surprise by demoting someone such as infielder Danny Worth, but the multi-position player figures to get many more at-bats than Santos. They could also designate right-hander Enrique Gonzalez for assignment, as they did earlier in the season, and outright him to Toledo.

But most likely Detroit will elect to trim Wilk and Santos.
