Chrysler Faces Fines Over Plant Violations

KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) - State regulators have issued $200,000 in fines against Chrysler for safety violations found during the investigation of a worker's death at a central Indiana factory.

The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration's investigation began in January after 62-year-old Claude Brock Jr. fell to his death from a conveyor system at the Kokomo Casting Plant.

The Kokomo Tribune reports two $70,000 fines are for workers not using equipment to prevent falls and for not properly training employees.

Alberta Brock tells WTHR-TV that her husband was surprised more workers weren't injured or killed at the factory and that she didn't think the fines were stiff enough.

Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson told the Tribune the company didn't have an immediate comment on the fines.
