Decomposed Body Pulled From Detroit River

GROSSE ILE (WWJ) - Authorities are attempting to identify a badly decomposed body pulled from the Detroit River near Grosse Ile.

According to a spokesperson for the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, the recovery was made just before noon, Wednesday. A citizen contacted the Coast Guard to report the body at the north end of the island, at Hennepin Pointe.

The body, believed to be that of a male, has been turned over to the Wayne County Medical Examiner for identification and determination of cause of death.

Officials said the body appeared to have been in the water for quite some time.
