Royal Oak Music Theatre Puts Out A 'Call To Wed' For 11 Military Couples

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - When they joined the armed services, they were called to action. Now, military couples are being called to get hitched.

The Royal Oak Music Theater will give free Veteran's Day weddings to eleven selected couples.  Vows will be exchanged in the historic Royal Oak Music Theatre -- followed by a reception with 30 invited guests.

Jessica Miller is organizer for the "Call to Wed" event a free wedding for 11 military couples. The event will take place at the Royal Oak Music Theatre on Veterans Day  on 11/11/11.

"The idea is to have them write a letter as to why they want to get married at the theatre and again the qualifications just one of the two partners need to be in the military in some area of service; active or a veteran," said Miller.

The theater is now accepting submissions from interested couples through Friday, July 1, 2011 and winning couples will be notified by Friday, July 8.

Submission guidelines:

• The bride- or groom-to-be must have military status – active duty or a veteran. Please include military status, years of service, military branch. Disabled Veterans are encouraged to apply as well.

• Names, hometowns and contact information of bride- and groom-to-be.

• Submit a letter that is no longer than 1,500 words about their relationship and why they want to be married on Veteran's Day  by Friday, July 1 to the Royal Oak Music Theatre via mail (318 W.
