'Sir Paul' Coming To Detroit For July Concert

DETROIT (WWJ)- Paul McCartney will play in Detroit for the first time in over 30 years.

Sir Paul will make his first concert appearance in the city of Detroit in more than three decades for his "On The Run Tour" Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Comerica Park at 8 p.m.

McCartney's Detroit stadium gig will be a hugely anticipated return to the city which has hosted historical performances by Sir Paul in the past: The July 24 Comerica Park will be his first visit to the City of Detroit since 1976.

This blockbuster show will be McCartney's first visit to the Metro Detroit area since 2005 and his first stadium appearance since 1993.

McCartney's recently completed "Up and Coming Tour" played over three dozen shows to more than 1,000,000 fans from its March 2010 start through its June 10, 2011 conclusion at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 17 at 10 a.m.
