Clark Academy Gets $100k Grant From Lowes
DETROIT (WWJ) - A big boost at the end of the school year for one Detroit Public School....Clark Preparatory Academy. The pre-K through 8 school was awarded a $100,000 dollar grant from Lowes to build a state-of-the-art kitchen and sewing room.

Clark Preparatory Academy, a Pre-K through 8 school, received a $100,000 dollar grant from Lowe's to set up a district first - state of the art home economics learning center.
They have sewing machines for 10, sewing units on one side and a full kitchen on the other side.
Principal Cindy Lang, who says they will get new computers and libraries in every classroom.
WWJ's Stephanie Davis spoke with Ellen Bratman, who is a community manager at the academy.
"This used to be a teachers lounge ... now, kids are there cooking & sewing. It's just amazing," said Bratman.
The grant was written by NextDetroit Neighborhood Initiative on behalf of the school.
