Nail Gun Fired At Officers During Standoff

SUMMIT TOWNSHIP (AP) - Authorities in southern Michigan say a man fired a gas-powered nail gun at law enforcement officers during a standoff following a domestic assault.

The Jackson County sheriff's department says it sent deputies the home in Summit Township near Jackson on Wednesday evening and learned that the 50-year-old man may have assaulted his girlfriend inside.

The department says other people got out of the home but the man stayed inside, threatened to kill deputies and emerged several times to fire the nail gun at officers. Following a standoff, a tactical team went inside and subdued him with a stun gun. No one was seriously hurt.

Undersheriff Christopher Kuhl says Michael Czolgosz is charged with felonious assault and resisting arrest. Kuhl says he doesn't know if the suspect has a lawyer.
