Keeping The Faith On This Week's Street Beat

Freedom of religion is a constitutionally guaranteed right in this country — but there's no guarantee on tolerance.   I have seen this first hand. 

This week on Street Beat, we look at several different religions to see what is being done to promote growth and understanding. 

We met with Reverend Barbara Clevenger, a minister from the Unity Church of Farmington Hills and a member of the Interfaith Leadership Council Of Metropolitan Detroit.  www.detroitinterfaithcouncil.com 

She tells us it is very important to promote religious intolerance.  "It's that core value that all of the religions share and particularly our Interfaith Leadership Council," she said.  "That's what we see as we are trying to call forth so that our whole metro Detroit area is strengthened and grows."

Then Community Correspondent Ben Falik talks to Leor Barak of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, a synagogue that's experiencing a rebirth in the city of Detroit.  www.downtownsynagogue.org
