BAY CITY (WWJ) - One 92-year-old has a senior moment — he’ll never forget.  With a single swing he makes history.  WWJ’s Kathryn Larson has the story about one man’s memorable moment on the golf course.

“I have been close a couple of times but never in the cup, and I thought it better come pretty soon because I’m getting up there in years,” said Bay City resident Herb Schmidt. “It was a nice arch, it was a nice high one…and it landed shortly in front of the flag… a couple of bounces and it rolled right in, boy did we whoop it up.”

And very important if you want a hole in one like Schmidt.  The father of six says he’s waited his entire life for this to happen at the Maple Leaf Golf Course– and says after the victory with the 8 iron — he couldn’t believe what happened next:

“This is on the eighth hole … then I come to the ninth ..by golly I pared that, so I was really in 7th heaven there,” said Schmidt.

After his round of golf — Schmidt and his church buddies celebrated with a round at the country club.
