Heat & High Temps Require Special Pet Care
DETROIT (WWJ) - Summertime offers a lot of fun things for you and your dog to enjoy -- but as many pet owners know, this time of the year can also bring many dangers.
According to John Stottle, owner and operator of Family Puppy stores in Southeast Michigan, one big mistake some pet owners make is exposing their dogs to too much heat.
"Above 78 degrees or so, be very, very careful in understanding that dogs overheat just like humans do. Just like we do they can have heat stroke, they'll be in the back yard or the car and it's just a very risky thing to do... to leave a dog out in the hot weather." said Stottle.
Stottle added that even when the windows are cracked in the car, it only takes a few minutes for the car to get hot inside ... putting your pet in grave danger.
