Daughter Of Lansing Mayor Facing Misdemeanor Charges

LANSING (WWJ) - The Lansing State Journal is reporting that the daughter of Lansing Mayor and 2010 candidate for governor Virg Bernero is facing misdemeanor charges of impaired driving and possession of marijuana stemming from a traffic stop in East Lansing last week.

The paper says 23-year-old Kelly Bernero was stopped on the evening of June 13 and declined to take a preliminary breath test.

A later test administered at the police department showed a blood alcohol level of .06, below the state threshold of .08 for driving under the influence. Police also found a small quantity of marijuana in her vehicle.
