Nick Lidstrom is back, no surprise the 41 year old defenseman has agreed to terms on a new 1-year deal with Detroit to return for a 20th season with the team.

Lidstrom is in Vegas for the NHL Awards show Wednesday as he is again nominated for the Norris Trophy. GM Ken Holland said today it would have been devastating to lost both Lidstrom and Brian Rafalski. Holland did add the Red Wings will be active in free agency but will not spend money just to spend, he also says that young defenseman Brendan Smith will get every opportunity to make the Wings team out of training camp.

Tigers heading out to L.A. for the first of 3 with the Dodgers tonight, former Dodger Brad Penny is on the hill for Detroit who was an All-Star in L.A. in 2006 and 2007. Dodgers counter with left Clayton Kershaw, L.A. is 9 games below .500 and hitting just over 200 their last 6 games.

Pistons continue to work out possible draft prospects, Kansas forward Marcus Morris was in town today. 97.1 The Ticket has also learned that Tennessee's Tobias Harris also took park. The Congo's Bismack Biyombo arrives in town tonight and will work out tomorrow. Biyombo was in Toronto today to work out for the Raptors; reportedly Toronto is set to hire Dwane Casey as its new head coach.
