Bing Re-Hires Kirk Lewis As New Chief Of Staff

DETROIT (WWJ) - A man who once worked in Detroit Mayor Dave Bing's administration before getting fired has been rehired, and he is ready to get down to work.

WWJ City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas caught up with Bing's newly appointed Chief of Staff, Kirk Lewis, who said he's glad to be back.

"I'm really excited to be back, we've got a lot of great things going on, we've got a great team... the mayor is all excited. Shortly, you will hear some of the outstanding and really creative things we're going to be doing," Lewis said.

Lewis was relieved from his duties as the mayor's chief governmental and corporate affairs officer in March of this year. Now that he's back just a few months later, Lewis said he is refreshed and refocused.

"The major focus for me right now is basically dealing with the relationships. I want to make sure our City Council relationship is strong, I want to make sure our relationship with the media is strong and then really looking internally on our operations and that our team is solid and we're striving for excellence," Lewis said.
