Mopar's Electronic Vehicle Tracking System Lauded by 'Connected World'

Mopar's Electronic Vehicle Tracking System, the first vehicle-tracking system to send owner an alert when vehicle is driven too fast or too far based on set parameters, has been given a Value Chain Award from Connected World magazine.

Award recognizes process of combining multiple mobile-to-mobile technologies to create a winning system for customers.

"Connected World magazine's Value Chain Awards honor the most successful corporate adopters of M2M technology and connected devices," said Connected World editorial director Peggy Smedley. "With Mopar EVTS, the consumer has the ability to instantly track a stolen vehicle or receive excessive-speed and parameter text alerts. This thoughtful, innovative technology really sets this feature apart in the marketplace."

Now in their seventh year, the Connected World Value Chain Awards recognize corporate adopters in many categories. Winning submissions are judged on how innovation and technology were used to solve problems and challenges. Scores are based on how the individual company faced a major challenge and how an opportunity was created using M2M technology.

Successful entries included improved customer service, better asset visibility, increased uptime and automated business processes.

"Mopar is honored to be recognized for this innovative solution in vehicle tracking," said Pietro Gorlier, president and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC's service, parts and customer-care brand. "We will continue to create, develop and quality-test features that support and add value to our Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Fiat brands."

Mopar's system is powered by Pontiac-based Guidepoint Systems, a provider of GPS-enabled stolen-vehicle recovery systems. Unlike other vehicle tracking systems, Mopar EVTS offers nationwide tracking without a subscription. The system is available on Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Fiat vehicles, and competitive vehicles with a 16-pin diagnostic data port.

Mopar EVTS is offered in three packages: Base, Silver and Gold. The Base plan offers a GPS stolen-vehicle locator, real-time GPS stolen-vehicle tracking and a $1,000 theft-protection warranty. The system is transferable and upgradeable. The base system does not have subscription fees.

For added protection and service, owners may choose a Silver or Gold plan. The Silver plan includes "Security Fence," a feature that allows owners to set speed and distance parameters for their vehicles. If and when set parameters are exceeded, a text alert is sent to the EVTS registered owner.

Other vehicle-monitoring features available in the Silver plan include arrival/departure notification, historic trace maps of a vehicle's past locations, 24/7 emergency-service dispatch, automatic theft notification, online tracking and OnCall, and an on-board panic button.

The Gold plan includes all of the features in the Silver package along with unlimited online tracking and a full concierge service, allowing vehicle owners to receive directions, make reservations and receive other needed assistance at the touch of a button using the EVTS registered owner's cell phone.

Mopar EVTS is currently available as a Mopar accessory at Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Fiat dealers.

The price for EVTS is $459 plus installation, with the silver and gold plans adding annual fees of $149 and $249 respectively.

Mopar is Chrysler Group LLC's service, parts and customer-care brand. Mopar distributes approximately 280,000 parts and accessories in more than 90 countries and is the source for all original-equipment parts for Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram Truck vehicles.
