Future Uncertain For Kitten Abandoned In Bag

DETROIT (WWJ) - Officials at the Michigan Humane Society say the prognosis is uncertain for a kitten who was cruelly left to die in a bag on the riverbank in Detroit this week. Two joggers discovered the four-week-old kitten on Wednesday. He's been nicknamed "River."

Officials said it is unclear how long the kitten has been trapped in the bag without food or water. They said he was having difficulty eating, although, on Friday, he was beginning to show signs of improvement.

The Michigan Humane Society Cruelty Investigation Department is investigating.

The Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Michigan Humane Society's Cruelty Investigation Hotline at (313) 872-3401. Callers may remain anonymous.
