Red Wings Draft Jurco In Second Round

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Detroit Red Wings selected right wing Tomas Jurco of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in the second round of the NHL draft Saturday.

Jurco, who is from Slovakia, was the first of nine players Detroit picked on the draft's second day. The Red Wings had traded their first-round pick to Ottawa for a pair of second rounders.

Jurco, the 35th overall pick, had 31 goals and 25 assists in 60 games last season for the Memorial Cup champion Saint John Sea Dogs. He had 26 goals and 25 assists the previous season for Saint John.
