Teen Charged In Alleged Crime Spree

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Wayne County Prosecutor's office announces charges against a teen whose alleged crime spree left several people injured.

WWJ's Pat Sweeting reports that the name of Deangelo Owens, 17, is not new to local police.

The Southfield teen faces life in prison for 10 of the 14 crimes he is accused of committing, the most recent involving the robbery, carjacking and wounding of retired Detroit police officer on June 13.

Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy addressed the latest incident involving the teen:

"Retired Detroit police officer, Moses Baldwin, 81, was leaving the United States Post Office on Chene and entering his car when it is alleged Owens pointed a ... handgun at him, demanding his car keys and money," said Worthy.
