Buddy's Pizza Celebrates 65 Years

In New York/New Jersey area -- it is not hard to find a good slice of pizza.  Here in Metro Detroit, I am learning to weed through the pizzerias.

When I heard that Buddy's Pizza has been around for 65 years, it hit me: "They must be doing something right!"

Although I prefer New York style pizza over deep-dish, I'll take any style when I have a cheesy craving!

In honor of its 65th anniversary, Buddy's rolled out four different pizzas called the Motor City Pizza Collection.  Each pie will benefit four different local organizations.

The Detroit Zoo Pizza has a cheese blend, fresh basil, pine nuts and tomato basil sauce.  (4 Square - $9.4 9 8 Square - $16.49)

The Detroit Parade Company Pizza features a cheese blend, carrots, grape tomatoes and tomato basil sauce.  (4 Square - $9.4 9 8 Square - $16.49)

The Henry Ford pie has a cheese blend, red onions, seasoned ground beef, smoked bacon, bleu cheese  and tomato basil sauce.  (4 Square - $10.49 8 Square - $18.49)

And the Detroit Institute of Arts cheese blend, spinach & artichoke blend, capers and roasted tomatoes. This one is served with a lemon wedge.  (4 Square - $10.49 8 Square - $18.49)

I opted for the Detroit Zoo pizza pie!  I love animals and love the zoo!  Plus, I am a big fan of fresh basil.  I've never had pine nuts on pizza and wanted to try it.

It was delish!  The pizza tasted fresh.  I don't know if you feel the same, but when ingredients are fresh, the food tastes healthier.  That's what my taste buds think.  My body though doesn't want to count the calories!

Overall, I enjoyed the pie.  I had the smaller size and it last for three meals!

My next taste test will probably be the Henry Ford, without bacon.
