Capital Area IT Council to hear presentation on state government IT: The next Capital Area IT Council membership meeting will be held Thursday, July 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lansing Community College Michigan Technical Education Center, located at 5708 Cornerstone Drive in Lansing. The July meeting will feature a presentation by State of Michigan CIO David Behen, "Transforming Michigan through Information, Communications and Technology." The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget has been recognized nationally for developing best practices in the use of information, communications and technology. In his presentation, State CIO David Behen, will provide an overview of Michigan's technology direction, including opportunities for shared services and public-private partnerships. This is a must attend event, whether you are interested in doing business with the state, learning about emerging technology trends or getting an update as an interested citizen. Electrochemical Society To Talk Automaker Energy: The Electrochemical Society's Detroit Section will meet Wednesday, July 27 on the topic "Automaker Energy Storage Needs for High Energy Applications" featuring a presentation from Alvaro Masias, research engineer, energy storage research and strategy department, in the research and advanced engineering at Ford Motor Co. He is a member and Project Manager of the United States Advanced Battery Consortium Technical Advisory Committee. Masias is chairman of the ECS Individual Membership Committee and past chairman of the ECS Detroit Section. He has earned engineering degrees from the California Institute of Technology and the University of Michigan. The event starts with a reception at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the speaker at 7:30 p.m., in Room 406 of the Taubman Welcome Center of Lawrence Technological University, 21000 W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield.
