Police Say Eastpointe Infant’s Drowning An Accident

EASTPOINTE (WWJ) – Detectives in Eastpointe say the drowning of six-month-old baby appears to be accidental.

Eastpointe police said the mother was bathing the child Tuesday evening when she left the room for a few moments, leaving the infant in a “baby bath seat”. The mother she came back to find the baby underwater and unresponsive.

The child was taken to St. John Hospital and Medical Center, but was pronounced dead. An autopsy is pending.

Once the investigation is complete, Eastpointe detectives will discuss the case with prosecutors to determine if any charges will be filed.
