Inmate Dies After Jumping 2 Stories In Jail

OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) - There could have been a better ending.  A 54-year-old Oakland County Jail inmate has died, after suffering injuries from a two-story fall.

Ricky Bell of Holly was in jail for a violation of his probation related to domestic violence charges.

The afternoon deputies had just let the inmates out for free time when Bell jumped from over the rail into the day room, falling two stories.

Bell died a few hours later at POH Medical Center.  He was set to be released next month.

An investigation is underway.
