Spa Releases Cosmetic Surgery iPhone App

SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) - Shelby Township-based Allure Medical Spa Tuesday released a new iPhone application to teach prospective patients about cosmetic treatments -- and to help them visualize potential outcomes.

"Many of my patients are tech-savvy and are searching online for the newest treatments," said board certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Brett Kotlus at Allure. "This app gives them a digital resource in the palm of their hands that describes the range of available cosmetic procedures and offers a communication link to our practice."

The Allure Medical Spa app, subtitled "Boost Your Beauty", contains before and after photographs as you would expect on a cosmetic surgeon's Web site. It also features a visualization tool that allows you to upload a photo for "virtual surgery." A swipe of the finger can shrink the waist or enlarge the buttocks.  The final simulation can be shared with friends or with one of Allure Medical Spa's board certified cosmetic surgeons for feedback.

The instructional section of the application includes slide shows explaining various surgical and non-surgical procedures including eyelid lifts, liposuction, and varicose vein treatments.

"It can be hard to feel completely at ease in the doctor's office," said Dr. Charles Mok of Allure Medical Spa. "This app allows patients to look at cosmetic options on their own before they come in for a consultation. It gives them a starting place before they come in, and it helps us to pinpoint their needs."

Also featured on the app is the advanced procedure called CoolSculpting, which freezes away fat without surgery.

"Many of my patients are on their iPhones in the waiting room," Kotlus said. "Now when they ask me what a cosmetic treatment can do for them, I can say 'There's an app for that!'"

The app can currently be downloaded free in Apple's iPhone App Store.

Allure Medical Spa is located at 8180 26 Mile Road, Suite 300, Shelby Township. More at www.AllureMedicalSpa.com.
