DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit native, gospel music legend and Grammy Award winning artist CeCe Winans is returning to co-host “Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound” — the country’s biggest gospel music celebration.

This year, the tour kicks off in Dallas on September 15th, and will visit a total of nine cities. It hits Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena on Saturday, September 24.

“Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound” provides an opportunity for church choirs to share and celebrate their faith and talent with audiences across the country. Participating choirs get a chance to perform in front of gospel legends and fans, for a chance at winning up to $50,000.

The tour’s resident judge is Marvin Sapp. He will be joined by Mary Mary, Dorinda Clark Cole, Fred Hammond, Richard Smallwood, James Fortune, Byron Cage, Ricky Dillard and Shirley Caesar, among others. Grammy Award winning artist, songwriter and producer Donald Lawrence will co-host the tour with Winans.

Tickets to “Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound” are now on sale at OlympiaEntertainment.com, the Fox Theatre and Joe Louis Arena box offices, along with Hockeytown Authentics in Troy (without service charge), all Ticketmaster locations and Ticketmaster.com.
