Affording College: Do The Math
For many families figuring out how to "do the math" to afford college is a frustrating exercise.
You need to start with adding up tuition, fees, dorms and food, then subtract the financial aid you will receive from the college. The U.S. Department of Education has created a new website to help parents make sense out of college costs, collegecost.ed.gov, allows parents and students to compare college costs, and see what institutions have been raising tuition the most and the least across the nation.
