Mich. Soldier Dies In Afghanistan

(Battle Creek-WWJ) A soldier from southern Michigan has been killed in the fighting in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense says 28 year-old Army Sgt. Joshua Throckmorton of Battle Creek died along with two other soldiers Tuesday in Afghanistan's Paktia province.

The Pentagon says Throckmorton died of injuries from an improvised explosive device.

Throckmortan was an honor student at Battle Creek High School when he graduated in 2001.  He was married and had three children.

Leslie Throckmorton told the Battle Creek Enquirer that her husband "was a soldier doing his job and he couldn't wait to get home."

Throckmorton belonged to a military police unit stationed in Germany.
