Man Dies After Multi-Car Accident On I-75

DETROIT (WWJ) - A multi-car accident on southbound I-75 near Clay Road has left one person dead.

It happened Friday evening when a 1997 Ford utility truck driven by a 32-year-old Detroit man was pulling onto I-75 and was rear-ended by a 2002 GMC pick-up driven by a 47-year-old man from Rosebush, Michigan.

Sergeant Kim Pegouske with the Michigan State Police described what happened next.

"A 2004 Dodge Neon driven by a 33-year-old male from Novi was unable to avoid the accident and rear ended the GMC pickup. The 47-year-old man received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at Detroit Receiving Hospital. All other drivers and occupants were treated and released," Pegouske said.

Names have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The accident is under investigation. At this time, it is not known if alcohol was involved.
