Detroit Neighborhood Rocked By Fire, Explosion
DETROIT (WWJ) - An explosion at a vacant business rocks a section of Detroit's northwest side.
WWJ's City Beat reporter Vickie Thomas reports that Detroit's Arson Squad says the fire was intentionally set with a lot of gasoline in a vacant salon on W. Seven Mile Road near Evergreen. It led to an explosion that blew out the front window. Wayne Carter has lived in the area for three years, and he says all of the arson fires hurt communities.
"It's just bad for the neighborhood, and as far as the kids, too, just to walk and see everything vacant and everything," Carter said. Looking at all the glass that was shattered and lying on the ground, Carter added, "You see it all the way across the street. They said it was a bad explosion, and it came all the way across the street."
Luckily, no one was injured.
