DETROIT (WWJ) – A northern Michigan resort is hosting a new golf tournament for professionals and talented amateurs this fall.

The 54-hole Michigan Pro event is being held Sept. 7th through 11th on three courses at Shanty Creek Resorts in Bellaire.

WWJ spoke with the resort’s Director of Golf, Brian Kautz,  who says despite the economy … they’re holding their own.

“It’s a challenge, but I think everyone has stepped up … you notice the pricing structure is changing … it’s more pocket friendly … and people are responding to that,” Kautz said.

Shanty Creek is home to the Arnold Palmer-designed golf course “Legend” and the Tom Weiskopf designed “Cedar River.”
