NOVI (WWJ) – The City of Novi is hosting an opening celebration to announce the grand opening of the second annual Public Sculpture Exhibit.

Eight sculptures will be on display for the exhibit; seven along the walking paths of Fuerst Park and one outside the Civic Center through May 2012.

The pieces, chosen by a jury of local art professionals, are interpretive, abstract, and meant to evoke different reactions from those who view the exhibit. World renowned sculptor and Novi resident, David Barr also has a sculpture featured in the exhibit.

The opening celebration will be held on Friday, June 15, to coincide with the Sizzling Summer Arts Series performance, “Toppermost” Beatle Tribute Band. The event begins at 8 pm at Fuerst Park. There will be live music, a sculpture scavenger hunt and giveaways.

Fuerst Park is located at the corner of Ten Mile and Taft Roads. For more information on the Public Sculpture Exhibit, visit
