DEARBORN (WWJ/AP) – The game of Quidditch is set to take a broomstick ride off the pages of the Harry Potter novels and onto the grounds of a Dearborn museum.
Teams from Michigan State University and Oakland University are squaring off, Friday, in a Quidditch match at Henry Ford Museum.
It’s the same day the eighth and final Potter movie hits theaters.
MSU vs. Syracuse in a 2010 Quidditch match:
The teams are to compete in a game of Muggle Quidditch, which has been adapted from the game that appears in J.K. Rowling’s books. The teams have the same players: three chasers, two beaters, one keeper and one seeker.
But the game is played on the ground, not the air, and players have to hold onto a broomstick while running.
