2 Deadly Accidents On I-75

MONROE (WWJ) - Two accidents on northbound I-75 in the Monroe area Saturday night claim two lives. One accident occurred north of Newport at the 23 Mile marker, and there was a second, unrelated accident on the same stretch of I-75, this one north of 25.

The accident at the 23 Mile marker claimed the life of 58-year-old Cole Bruno, Jr. of Trenton. According to the Monroe County Sheriff's office, shortly after 11:30 Saturday night, Bruno was driving his 2007 Ford Ranger northbound on I-75 when he was rear-ended by a 2001 Hyundai Elantra. That car, police say, was being driven by 28-year-old Terrence Collins of Adrian.

Both vehicles lost control and overturned. Bruno was pronounced dead at the scene. His 28-year-old son, Cole Bruno III, was traveling with him. He was taken to Oakwood South Shore Hospital, as was Collins, where both were listed in stable condition. Authorities say speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

Just up the road, at the 25 Mile marker, there was another, unrelated accident that claimed one person's life.
