Monroe County CC Adding Alternative Energy Courses

Monroe County Community College will hold a public information session on its new alternative energy courses Tuesday, July 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Rooms 259 and 260 of the La Z Boy Center on main campus.

The college and DTE Energy officials have secured a Chevy Volt to include as part of the presentation and will use it to demonstrate the college's electric vehicle charging stations that were recently installed just outside the La-Z-Boy Center.

The charging stations were the result of the college's successful application to the ChargePoint America Program.

This fall, MCCC will offer an Introduction to Renewable Energy Systems course and an Introduction to Solar Energy Systems. In winter semester, MCCC will offer a course in Applied Solar Photovoltaic Systems and another course in Introduction to Wind Power.
