Ann Arbor Art Fair Opens Wednesday
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - About 500,000 people are expected to fill the streets of Ann Arbor in the next four days for the city's annual Art Fair.
Spokesman Daniel Cherrin says he doesn't expect the hot weather to deter anyone from coming to the event. And, he adds, that they are taking several precautions to make sure people are safe in the heat.
"The City of Ann Arbor has tapped a number of fire hydrants to turn them into drinking fountains and to fountains for people to fill up their own water bottles if they so choose. Water will be also for sale throughout the Art Fair," he said.
"To escape the heat people can pop into any one of the restaurants or shops throughout the Art Fair, or even hop onto our trolley which is air conditioned and takes people around the four fairs."
The Art Fair opens Wednesday and runs through Saturday.
Cherrin said attendees will have the opportunity to talk to the artists behind the work.
"Every artist has a story and it's just phenomenal to listen to how these artists became artists and how they created what they created. And then the opportunity to carry on that story in your house or office by purchasing their work," Cherrin said.
