Memorial Park Beach Closed Due To E Coli

ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) – The Macomb County Health Department has ordered the closure of the beach at St. Clair Shores Memorial Park. Officials say testing has shown too high levels of E. coli in the water.

Nearby Blossom Heath beach has been closed since May.

If you’re looking for a close-by place to swim, Metro Beach in Harrison Township is open. The water temperature is 81 degrees.

You can check on local beach conditions anytime at this link.

Until environmentalist groups are willing to allow common sense to play a role in DNR decision making, the tax paying public will continue to suffer. The rampant and uncontrolled population growth of Canadian geese continues to foul public beaches, public golf courses and most every small body of water in this state. The moment anyone addresses “population control” of these birds there is a huge cry of “foul”. We need to eliminate (not simply and ineffectively relocate) these birds. The DNR and Macomb County are happy to avoid the issue and just close the beaches To put geese welfare ahead of the health of the public is beyond idiotic.
