Pistons 2011-2012 Schedule

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons will open the 2011-12 season at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Wednesday, November 2 (7:30 p.m. EST) versus the Indiana Pacers, it was announced today by the National Basketball Association. The schedule boasts 31 home games played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday – the most since the 2007-08 season.

Pistons season tickets and partial season ticket packages are on sale now. Tickets for individual games during the 2011-12 regular-season will go on sale at a later date. For information on Pistons' ticket plans, call 248-377-0100 or visit www.pistons.com.

"We are pleased to announce the 2011-12 Pistons' regular-season schedule," said Executive Vice President Dan Hauser. "With 31 weekend and holiday home games on the schedule, we feel that our fans will have great opportunities to enjoy Detroit Pistons basketball throughout the course of the season."

Highlights of the Pistons' home schedule include two home meetings against the Chicago Bulls (December 10 and April 15), Boston Celtics (November 27 and January 7) and Orlando Magic (December 18 and April 3) as well as single-game match-ups with the NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks (February 8), Eastern Conference Champion Miami HEAT (December 4), Los Angeles Lakers (March 9), New York Knicks (November 6) and Oklahoma City Thunder (January 27).

The Pistons will host Southeast Division rival Washington on Friday, November 25 (8:00 p.m.) and Atlantic Division rival Boston on Sunday, November 27 (1:30 p.m.) as part of a Thanksgiving holiday weekend home series.

Detroit begins the season playing eight of its first 13 games at home and has two four-game homestands, the longest of the season. The first four-game homestand starts with the Dallas Mavericks making their only visit of the season on February 8, followed by Denver (February 10), San Antonio (February 12) and New Jersey (February 14). The second four-game homestand features the Memphis Grizzlies (March 4), who upset San Antonio to make the second round of the NBA Playoffs a year ago, the Toronto Raptors (March 6), the Western Conference Finals participant Los Angeles Lakers (March 9) and Charlotte Bobcats (March 10). The club finishes the season playing five of their last eight games at home.

The Pistons have an extended road stretch from March 12 through March 30 where the club plays nine of 10 games on the road. Detroit embarks on a five-game road trip, its longest of the season, on March 12 visiting Utah, Sacramento (March 14), Phoenix (March 16), the L.A. Clippers (March 18) and Denver Nuggets (March 21). Following a brief home stop against rival Cleveland at The Palace on Friday, March 23, the team heads back on the road for a four-game road trip stopping in New York (March 24), Washington (March 26), Cleveland (March 28) and Chicago (March 30).

The Pistons will make three national television appearances. ESPN will broadcast the Pistons' game vs. Milwaukee on Friday, April 13 (8:00 p.m. EST) while NBATV will broadcast Detroit's match-ups at Portland on Saturday, November 12 (10:00 p.m. EST) and vs. Orlando on Sunday, December 18 (7:00 p.m. EST). The club's local television schedule on FS Detroit will be announced at a later date.

Detroit will play 19 sets of back-to-back games this season, the fewest since the 2008-09 campaign. Five of its back-to-back sets fall on the road, five begin on the road and conclude at home, five are home-and-away back-to-backs and four sets are home-and-home back-to-backs.
