The Red Wings waste no time signing a backup goaltender. Ken Holland inks Ty Conklin to a 1 year reported 1 million dollar deal. The ex wing returns after playing the last 2 season in St. Louis with the Blues. Conklin backed up Chris Osgood in 2008-2009.

The Tigers wrap up their home stand tonight with one more game against the Oakland A's. Left hander Duane Below makes his major league debut. The Britton Michigan Native has won 9 games for Toledo this season and gets the call up so Justin Verlander can get an extra day of rest. Right hander Brandon McCarthy goes for Oakland. Tigers are now tied atop the A.L. Central with Cleveland; Indians today wrap up an eight game road trip with an afternoon game against Minnesota.

Forget about the Tigers landing Jose Reyes, a long shot to begin with. Now ESPN reports that New York will not trade the All-Star shortstop.

The NFL lockout is moving closer to being over. Reports say the players today are set to vote on the proposed deal with the owners and this deal would involve all of the individual legal side issues that players have with the league.
