Matt Dery's Daily Update 7-21-11

The Tigers hit the road for the next 7 days, 7 important games against the Twins and the White Sox. First up is Minnesota which is still hanging around in the division despite all of their injuries. 5 games back of the Tigers and Indians. Tonight, Detroit sends its ace Justin Verlander to the mound in search of his 13th win. Carl Pavano who is a noted Tigers killer is on the hill for the Twins. Newly acquired Wilson Betemit is expected to be in the lineup tonight at 3rd base.

The latest on the NFL lockout, ESPN reports that league owners have been told to expect to vote on the new collective bargaining agreement between 3:30 and 5:30 today. The owners are in Atlanta for their annual meetings.

Kobe Bryant is reportedly in discussions with a Turkish team, Besiktas, about playing for them during the lockout. This is the same team that has already signed Deron Williams.
