Think Tank Event Looks To Improve Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - They'll be putting on their thinking caps in Detroit Thursday night - looking for ways to improve the city.

It's called Think Tank Thursday featuring keynote speaker Rev. Dr. D. Alexander Bullock, who's head of the Michigan Rainbow/PUSH office. And, the event is free and open to the public. Organizer Orena Perry says the event runs from 6pm to 9pm at the Charles Wright Museum of African American History.

"We want to educate our community and family and businessmen. We want to motivate them to go and do something. And then we want to mobilize and push them," says Perry. And, her advice to those who attend tonight's event, "All of the information and resources that you receive on this particular evening, take it and do something with it," she says.

Perry is also executive producer of the International Detroit Black Expo and she says the think tank is designed to kick off the expo, which runs from August 18-21.
